GE;TS (02.04): Japandroids – Young Hearts Spark Fire
By Nick Woodside Thursday, 16 Jul 2009

“Good-Evil; The Soundtrack” is a weekly feature that showcases an editor’s song pick complete with a small write-up and a YouTube video or streaming version of the song. This week’s selection by Nick is “Japandroids – Young Hearts Spark Fire”.

Japandroids – Young Hearts Spark Fire

Japandroids’ “Post-Nothing” is pretty much my ideal summer album. It’s been getting non-stop play since I picked it up, even more so now that summer has finally hit in the Northeast. What I love most about them is that what you see is what you get. Straight forward rock songs about stuff pretty much everyone can relate to. Yeah, I’m worried about dying. Yeah, I only want to be worrying about those sunshine girls (even though I’m married with a kid and the only sunshine girls I worry about are on the side of a raisin box). These guys remind me of old Modest Mouse where a simple line just completely sums up a feeling about life that everyone’s had. Anyway they are rad and people are probably sick of me talking about them. Whatever. This will probably end up being my favorite album of the year.

Because I like the cut of Zach’s jib, I’m going to post a live video too. Here’s Japandroids performing a cover of Big Black’s “Racer X” and then “Young Hearts Spark Fire”
